The East Leake Christmas light switch on for 2019 was another huge success organised by the East Leake Traders Association. With lots to do during the day, the crowds attracted huge numbers of people with smiling faces and exciting children filling the streets.

There were different stalls from hook a duck, Santa’s grotto and mulled wine being served at different shops around the village. The Young Enterprise students from East Leake Academy were also there selling Christmas gifts made out of recycled bottles.

The day started at 11am with the Christmas Fair at the village hall where there were lots of arts and crafts and stalls for you to pick up those little Christmas extras.

Although previous weather forced Physioneeds to cancel part of the Santa fun run, the 2k run still pulled in an impressive 93 participants raising an incredible £420 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The day was celebrated with lots of music. With performances from Charnwood Concert Band and East Leake Community Carol Singers. The event then ended with Brookside School Choir.

Of course, Santa made an appearance arriving on his Sleigh waving to all the children before stepping on stage ready to turn on the Christmas lights.

Although the weather started to dip in temperature, the turnout and festive spirit made the whole event one of the best yet.
